As caregivers, we all love a good deal, especially in this economy. Shopping at one of the various dollar stores (The Dollar Store, The Dollar Tree, The 99 Cent Store, etc.) can shave quite a bit off your monthly household and care giving budget.
My drill comparison showed many drills are now listed as drill drivers instead of just a cordless drill. Cordless drivers have a clutch. The clutch controls the amount of torque applied. When the preset resistance has been reached It disengages the drill driver's drive shaft making a clicking sound. By setting the clutch correctly you won't strip a screw or overdrive it once it's snug. So its important to pay attention to the clutch settings so you are able to take advantage of clutch and not strip the screws. Your iPod uses a lithium stock ion battery. That is not the round kind found in a flashlight. Rather, it is a light, thin battery that is more powerful than conventional batteries. Using your device causes the battery to drain - simple enough. However, every time you charge your iPod battery, it loses some of its total charge. Over time, it will simply run out of power and you will have to replace the iPod battery with an iPod battery replacement kit.
These types of batteries also do not receive any damage if you use your phone while its charging. Older cell phones that used older types of batteries would damage the battery if used while charging. This simply is not the case anymore with the newer mobile phone batteries.
Avoid buying spares: Unlike wine and cheese, Li batteries do not improve with age. Avoid the temptation to buy spares, unless you use them frequently. Check the manufacture date, and never buy an old Lithium battery stocks, even if on sale.
The battery will re-charge a little if placed on a hot surface, like a radiator. Never place a mobile phone battery on a hot surface! There is a significant chance of explosion with extreme heat. A modern Lithium mines Ontario battery becomes less efficient the warmer it gets.
Memory effect will reduce the life of a battery. Modern Lithium-ion batteries do not suffer from memory effect, although it does occur in Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) units when charged from levels other than 0% of battery capacity. If the (NiMH) unit was fully charged when initially at say 20% capacity, the resulting available capacity would only be 80% of the factory original. Of course every time you charged the battery, the total available capacity would reduce and eventually your mobile phone would prove to be increasingly useless. Nearly all new electronic devices are now powered by Lithium batteries. You should always condition your (NiMH) battery from new.
With any battery, every time you charge it, it loses a bit of its performance and power. Over time, that battery will die, and after you give it a proper funeral, you'll have to change it. The same is true with your iPOD. Eventually, you will have to replace the iPOD battery. You can either change the iPOD battery itself or purchase a new iPOD Nano . But, because your iPOD battery is a lithium-ion beast, you won't need to worry about that for a while!
